Screen resolution change under VM

Anybody tried to make changes from 1024*768 to 800*600 when running RHL 7.2 as a VM Guest? I have looked at /etc/X11/XF86Config and XF86Config-4 but not sure how it is done? Is there a way like in windows to just right click on desktop and lower the resol? The idea is of course to make window smaller so you don't have to run in VM Full Screen.

Ooops, touche toes aren't they. I did scan for vmware and vmware + resolution and all kinds of things but none gave me real help so I decided to ask and see if anybody else. I did try to change runlevel to 5 in inittab and ended up with a looping screen flicker. Lucky I had a zip-copy of the vm disk to restore. So I repeat the question: how can I change the settings or dynamically set the screen to 800*600 without risking startup of x? I am sure someone knows it. I remember seeing a display in some place where the alternative models were listed but only the 1024 was active and changeable and all other dimmed. Without VM this would probably be very easy but with VM even the unusable CyberBlade I1 is usable for XGA. With VM so many ither things are easy so I may have to eat this fact....
