Screen Displacement

hey, i just finaly got my ati drivers installed. and all.

and now when i log in as my user, i can move the screen downwards about 3/4" to 1" only down with the mouse

no need to touch the monitor.

its like the screen is to big and i have to scrole down for it

how can i fix this?
my res is 1280x1024

when i log in as ROOT in to xwin its fine...ive looked at basic settings and there the same. so i was just wondering. thanks

Try pressing ctrl-alt-+ (or -) a couple of times to cycle through the various resolutions. See if one of them is better (ie higher). Strange that root has a different setting than users.

that does nothing.

i have just reinstalled my ATI drivers, and followed a thread on this site, and when i setit up i just just put the 1 resolution. as last time i put a couple and my drivers wouldn't load

but yet when i log into root i the screen is fine..

is/could there be anything else?

OK.. That key combo only works if you've defined some other resolutions. Are the Icons and text the same size in both?

Copy all your files to the new user (including all the .* files) and see if the problem recurrs. If not then delete your current user and recreate it. Then copy all files from the dummy user back to yourself.
