screen blanking in console and X

My display always turns off after a few minutes of inactivity (no key pressed, mosue not moved, no video playing). I think, this is kinda annoying in certain cases, and i would like to deacitvate this screen blanking totally. how can I do this? I tried with xset -display :0 -dpms, but still... is this behaviour set somewhere in the kernel config (I thought of this, because, in the console, the situation is the same)? I use fluxbox, kernel 2.4.26 and X 4.3.0.

thanks in advance
