Hello friends,

I've a scanner UmaxAstra2000U. It is one of the worst things in the hardware world for the user.
I strongly recommend anyone who wants to buy new hadrware, NOT to even think of buying ANYTHING from Umax. Their hardware is awful and so is their support ((

I was happy when first try my scanner on Windouz98. It was working fine.
But I do have serious problems with WindouzXP. It scanns but with yellow lines over the image. For other drivers from Umax you have to pay ((((((((((

But it was almost 2 years ago, when I've been using Windouz

I'm happy now with my Knoppix/Debian system and now I find Windouz so damn difficult to understand and work with...


About the problem itself
My scanner is not supported by SANE. It uses the same driver as the 1220 model. So my scanner is recognized and works, but the scanned image is bad.
The problem is very specific and I think only a person with the same sort of scanner can give me the answer if successful in configuring it.

With google and after hours every day searching I've found only one successful story/comments about Umax Astra 2000U scanner working with LINUX. But it is a little hard to be understood

So please if someone has succeeded with running this awful device with his LINUX system, or have other links I can read more about the problem, please share them with me!
