Have a look at man fsck - it should tell you all you need to know.

NTFS?? You need to do a chkdsk on your system then. Open a console and type in chkdsk /? I think it will say do chkdsk /F but you'll need to read up on it.

Why did you post a question about checking a Windows harddisk in Linux-Security?

no, i wanted to do it on my mac. of course i want to do it in linux. i can't run recovery console off the cd, why do you think i wrote it in a linux forum. I been using helix to do some data recover, but i just thought there was an experimental scan disk for ntfs, because according to the kernel mailing list, there was some support for ntfs repair tools.

http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&lr...=Google+Search was my search. In there are a couple of tools from Sourceforge and Freshmeat which may be of help.

And try to be less snippy, your post didn't say that your cd was unbootable.

thanks you, sorry for being snippy, i some times don't realize how snippy i can be at time, i didn't mean to offend or make any one upset. After looking around, all the ntfs repair tools a "very experimental", so i think i'm just goin to wait, i got all the data i needed off it. thanks anyways for all the help.
