SBLive Value! and emu10k1 Help needed.

I have a Soundblaster Live Value! and recently installed Redhat 8. Everything worked fine and rh detected my sblive and installed the emu10k1 for it.

I have a 4.1 sound setup and have my Windows partition perfectly setup with surround sound and 80% bass and 50% treble. Im having ALOT of troubles trying to get the same on my linux partition.

I installed emu-tools but am finding it hard to get surround working. I am basically only getting sound from front 2 speakers even though I have edited the correct things in the conf. (surround=yes, tonecontrol=yes)

I don't really know what to do from here, almost everything on the net for SBLive, emu10k1 and Linux is about Audigy cards.

Please help.

Actually, probably none. He sounds to have sound working fine, but is now in the process of getting it fine tuned.

I believe that they do use ALSA in RH8, so you might wanna see if there is something along those lines that might point you towards a better answer.

With mine, I have 4 speakers too. I used to run them through some crappy basic card. So I only had the 2 speakers working. Then I got me SB Live and as soon as I plugged in the cable to the black plug on the card, the rear speakers started working. I haven't had to edit any files at all.

But I am not running ALSA, although even when I was (in Mandy) it still worked.

Check alsamixer, see if that gives you options for the things you are looking for.

Good Luck

Cool

Im not getting any error messages. Its just the rear speakers arent working, and when I change the bass/treble in aumix, it doesnt actually change it.

sblive value and RH 8.0

i'm using red hat 8.0 w/ a sblive value sound card w/ boston speakers (2 sat and one sub)...i also have an onboard ess allegro sound card...don't know much about linux, but i know in windows XP i have both cards enabled and the speakers work fine, i just have to select digital output only in the advanced play control screen...hopefully it's just a matter of turning on the digital output in linux, but either way i would appreciate any help...thanks

p.s. - sound card config:
vendor: creative labs
model: sblive! value emu10k1
module: emu10k1

it also lists the ess technology card...but i'm trying to use the sblive

Digital output only affects systems that support digital output.
Hence forth... if your's doesn't suport DI/O, then you will get NO output, or possibly just a nice "hummmmmmmmmmm"

Slitely related question:

I recently upgraded from 7.3 to 8.0 redhat, but had the same problem in both. I have a Creative SBLive card, which worked fine w/ windows and is recognized by linux (at least it showed up in one hardware list) but I get no sound at all, w/ no error messages when I do try to play an .mp3 or what-have-you... I downloaded the emu101k???.tar file, but am having trouble finding good instructions for how to remedy this.

Anybuddy?
