Saving Flash/Converting Flash

Okay Folks..I did some searching before posting this,
I'm hoping that this is NOT a double post.

I want to be able to save flash files to my harddrive,
there are few programs that can run on windoze,
but who wants that. I want to be able to save the
swf files to the harddrive and then conver them
to executables....is there a piece of software
that can do both or perhaps at least doing one of
those tasks seperately.

Been Searching on Google...but to no avail

Thanks in advance gurus

only thing i can think of is to try to get macromedia flash mx or some other flash authoring tool to work via wine. or you could go the vmware route.

as far as saving flash movies from like a website, i haven't found an easy way. the way i would go about doing it is to view the page's source code, look for the <embed></embed> tags and get the url from the source parameter (copy it). then open up mozilla composer (the web page authoring part of mozilla) and create a hyperlink where the target of the hyperlink is the url you just copied. save the page, preview it, and when the page comes up, right click the hyperlink and do a save target as (or save link as, or whatever your context menu says for saving linked files). maybe someone knows of an easier way to save embedded files to the hard drive.
