saving console window positions in gnome / rh9.0 ?

Hello,

I was working in gnome under red hat 9.0 and had several console windows open. Somehow, these window positions were "saved" so that everytime I start a gnome session several console windows are opened and haphazardly thrown all about the desktop. How to I "reset" these settings to have a clean, empty desktop once again?

Thank you.
