Savage 2.0 install or other good games

I was trying to install Savage 2.0. I wondered if anyone had successfully installed it.

I found the instructions here

http://www.evolvedclan.com/forums/in...pic,259.0.html and the main website here http://www.s2games.com/savage/downloads.php

However the linux instructions say just install each as you go but all packages are in various formats, If you have got them going I would love a little more verbose instructions on what you did.

Or if you know of any other good games like this i would love to know, In the mood to do some gaming.

You freaked me out for a min there..
I Pre-ordered Savage2: A tortured soul and haven't heard that the beta was ready yet..

You are trying to install the original gameSavage:The Battle For Newerth v2.00e

Did you download the all in one package linked from S2games website ? it should be all you need. This is the Game, the Patch and SEP3T, where the instructions you were looking at tell you to download all those seperately.. the game publisher has combined all that into one install file now. The instructions you are looking at are out of date and over complicate the install process..

SEP Package Primary Download Location (Linux)
happypuppy.com < 2.00e Linux Retail + SEP3T
http://www.happypuppy.com/s2games/Savage_with_sep3t.run

Activation key
'00000000000000000000'

you should just be able to chmod that package to exectuable then run it to do the install..
I do believe you want to do the install as your normal user NOT as root..
If I recall correctly it will install to /usr/games/savage or something like that..
If I were at home I'd be able to tell you for certain.

chmod +x Savage_with_sep3t.run

./Savage_with_sep3t.run

Quote:
Step 1:
We recommend downloading a version of Savage: The Battle For Newerth, with the popular community mod named "SEP" pre-packaged. Simply un-compress this directory for the full game.

SEP Package Primary Download Location (Linux)
happypuppy.com < 2.00e Linux Retail + SEP3T
http://www.happypuppy.com/s2games/Savage_with_sep3t.run

Step 2:
Download and install the most current video card drivers for your video card.

http://www.nvidia.com for GeForce Series Cards
http://ati.com for Radeon Series Cards

Step 3:
Run the Savage 2.00e installer. To unlock game, enter the following cd-key:

CD Key
00000000000000000000
It's actually pretty straight forward.

I'm amazed they are giving this game away for free now.. Nice very nice..

As for your other inquiry about good games. if you have any of the id games Quake, Quake2, Quake 3, Doom, Doom 3, UT, UT2003, UT2004, Neverwinter Nights, these can all be installed natively on Linux.. you must have the original Install CD's though to get them installed.
