I've tried on a few different computers to install the Sarge Debian release via the netinstall ISO. Almost all of the install menus fly off the screen making it impossible to install it. I though maybe a framebuffer would change the resolution making it legible, but nope. Every compjuter does the same thing. Has anyone else noticed this and if you've fixed it, how did you do it? I've heard good things about the new installer, so I'm assuming this can't be normal.
you can use that to scroll up in console mode, but I don't know if it will work in your particular situation - but I figured it couldn't hurt to try...
Good luck with that thing.I would stongly suggest that you use one of the other netinstall ISO's.Just add testing to the sources.list and you are ready to go.
The bugs I found with the sarge installer are so far:
with netinstall it doesn't load all the eth modules - smart for netinstall
it has problems loading some modules for example the sis900 doesn't load with modprobe - you can force it in with insmod
dhcp detection doesn't work - at least not with my card
nano doesn't work - bitches about some missing fonts.
I wouldn't let that thing repartition my hdd
I gave up at this point because the kernel didn't support reiserfs anyway.
I have already noticed a few problems similar to the ones you mentioned. It also would not load the modules for my pcmcia slots.
I've read that this installer is supposed to be a significant improvement over the previous installers and that it will be the model for all future debian installers. All I can say is "I hope not".
I did ask about this on the debian user list but nobody really knew if this is the thing to come - I doubt it.
I did post about it to debian-boot but nobody seem to be bothered by it.
Just go for another image than the sarge ones (preferably the bf2.4 image if you need support for reiser and new hardware) and you should be ok.
