Samba Printer Sharing w/ Windows 7
Hello,
I'm new to the forum, but I need help from the experts. We are running RedHat Enterprise Server 5. We have a Windows 7 Pro with an HP Printer attached to it, and shared. I can see the printer in RedHat, but everytime I send a print job, it just does nothing but sit there. I've even tried to attach to it via smbclient, and I get the following response: tree connect failed: NT_STATUS_BAD_NETWORK_NAME Any ideas? Has anyone else successfully connected to and printed from RedHat to a Shared Windows 7 printer? Thanks, Dave |
Hi,
I successfully print to my HP printer connected to my winxp pro system from CentOS (which is RedHat). I configured the printer through the CUPS interface (http://localhost:631). I set the URI to smb://192.168.0.10/Printer2 (printer2 is the name of my printer on windoze and IP of windoze box on LAN) and chose "Windows printer via samba". I first set up the printer to be shared on the windoze box. HTH |
I have done that, but I referenced the printer by computer_name/printer_share_name. If you use an ip address do you still need a username/password? We have been successfull with windows xp pro, but we are trying this with windows 7 ultimate/pro.
Thanks |
I just happened to use IP instead of name. I don't need to enter user/pw.
It looks like it's a windows7 issue and unfortunately I can't help you with that. Good luck! |
