sorry for not given the proper specs. this is the scenario:
i have 5 users that doesn't have a usual pc to work with. they work around and the computers they use, vary from pc->pc, not only in hardware, but also in type of software. They have a mail account in outlook express (witch keeps the mail files and all that configuration with the user profile), etc, etc. this type of info i can't be configurating every time.
so, the thing is how to use local profiles with a samba pdc, not just keep creating a local user every time some one logs to the network.
thanks in advance
what i want is to have a user witch is allowed to login to a domain, but it uses "local profiles" in the computers he/she uses, since their default computers are diferent and have diferent hardware/email boxes and folders and all that stuff.
My actual pdc with rh7.1 is to be replaced with a new one with rh8 and i don't want to have the some problems i had with the old one. Always having wrong shortcuts to software/invalid software and hardware and a buch of errors coming from there every time one of these guys logs to the network. besides, it's comum that they would log in more than once, and then would have that thing with updating profile on the server, bla, bla.
botton line: i just want to validate my user. no roming profiles, just allow then to use their local profiles.
Okay, I've been in and out of town, and hadn't realized this post was still needing some answers... Honestly, I can't figure out HOW you are having this problem, and I just sat down and built a PDC to test it out, and even used the settings above that I stated. It doesn't default to roaming profiles, it defaults to NON-roaming profiles. Your users have to be set up to roaming profiles on their local systems as well, don't forget. (Right click on My Computer and go properties, click the Advanced tab, click the middle "settings" button, which is under User Profiles, and click Change Type.) That's about all I can tell you, as I don't know how you ended up with roaming profiles to begin with! I'm sorry I can't be more help, and perhaps someone else can give you a hand. :_)
