try this

to disable roaming profiles....

Start/Run/gpedit.msc
Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/User Profiles/Only Allow Local User Profiles. Local Computer Policy/Computer Configuration/Administrative Templates/System/User Profiles

Enable both the "Prevent Roaming Profile changes from propagating to the server" setting and the "Only allow local user profiles" setting.

enjoy,

I have a different functionlity that I would like to see using samba and different Windows flavors. I want to disable local profiles for domain logons. I believe that the profiles should be treated as shares like "autohomed" account over NFS. Doesn't this make more sense:

1.) Login
- The profile is read from the PDC
- The profile is not copied to the Windows box

2.) Session Usage
- The profile is accessed via a share when needed

3.) Logout
- The profile is already on the server
- There is no need to resync the local and roaming profiles

How can the above be accomplished?

Advantages:

There is no wasted network traffic for copying/syncing profiles
There is no wasted local disk space for holding the copied profile

yes, all u have 2 do is only set this:
Enable both the "Prevent Roaming Profile changes from propagating to the server" setting and the "Only allow local user profiles" setting.

and it will work just fine

edit: but u must set the path 2 the profile. not shure that it wont be copied to the workstation, though
