Samba "gateway" server?

I was wondering if this was possible. I would like to set up a linux gateway between me and my network,
A) for a web/ftp server and
B) for security, obvious reasons.
Now, if I set up this gateway, I loose the option to be directly tied to the network. Normally, I wouldn't loose sleep over this, except it also functions as a massive netbios network. A user that is logged in can also log into the workgroups and browse thousands of user's shared files.
Is there a way for me to set up this gateway, then somehow, fake like I'm directly connected? Could I get the server to pass all packets coming in on 135/139 on to the client machine behind the gateway, and then they would "see" my machine as if it were ...
Ok, I'm confusing myself, which is why I need you people to tell me how to do this. It's 2:00, which isn't that late for me, but I'm kind of sick and achy, and my brain has ceased to work.

I'll make it easy for you (and me). Right now, I can browse the network using samba just fine and dandy. I want to be able to do that very same thing, but with a gateway server between me and them. How do I do that? Thanks for putting up with me and my brainless ness tonight!

You basically just need to get to grips with iptables and IP masquarading. I don't think that samba will come into the equation.

Check the iptables HOWTO for all the gunk.
