Question Running newest versions of Linux on 100mhz?

Okay, I have old computer I would like to get some use as experimental computer if no other after my long break with hacking with linux as it turned better than I excepted (didn't have to change anything for 6 months, anything!!! And still won't!).

I'm considering Slackware 9 being closest to reality without X windows, because it's so flexible. But does hardware support extend itself all the way to 1996?
Mandrake is left out without question, as is RedHat.
Any other suggestions of new versions for it?

Regardless of the distro you choose, as long as you don't install X you should be all right.

Not sure about slack, but RH and Mandy have hardware compatability lists at their websites, so you could see if your HW is supported there. (rule of thumb: if it works in one distro it will likely work with any..)

other than that, there is no reason why you cant give it a try and see if it don't work.

I used to have RH 8 installed on a 233, so I'm sure you can get something running on the old 100.

good luck
