running iptables commands gives me input/output error

Hi,

I am new in linux. I was connected to my linux remotely. Then I ran these commands remotely to remove the firewall
# service iptables save
# service iptables stop
# chkconfig iptables off

and then all of my problem got started. I cannot even run the ls command , I get input/output error.

I ran
# service iptables start
# chkconfig iptables on

to get beck to the state I was before but nothing changes.

Please help me.

Sounds more like you've either been root kitted or you've got separate issues, there is nothing iptables does that should effect "ls" in anyway.

Thanks rweaver,

I ran those commands remotely with a usrname and root password.

But now I cannot login to my computer even locally. Thats why I get input/output error when I try to run any commands in that computer remotely. But I still can ssh to that computer with my username however I cannot do any thing like run ls or cd commands. Do you know why my user name is disabled by those commands in iptables?

Show the exact error you get when running 'ls'. (Both as root and as yourself)
Also, show 'iptables -L' (as root)

Thanks guys,

It got solved. I think it was a Fedora bog. I asked someone to shut down the server for a while and then could login again. I used to get input/output error wether I was root or another user.
