running badblocks on mounted partition


i accidently ran "badblocks" on a mounted partition and have read you're not supposed to do this. I was wondering what the potential damage is and also how can i know if everything is alright?

Can't see there'd be a problem so long as you didn't use one of the "write" options.

Personal opinion only - haven't looked at the code.
