If these things are for everyone's login and pertain to environment: /etc/profile

If these things are for everyone's login and pertain to functions and aliases: /etc/bashrc

If these things are for your login and pertain to environment: /home/you/.bash_profile

If these things are for your login and pertain to functions and aliases: /home/you/.bashrc

If these things are for the system only, and are non-interactive: /etc/rc.d/rc.local

Ah, you're talking X, eh? Try yet another file, /home/you/.xinitrc

Create it! try cd ~; touch .xinitrc
Then open it in your favorite text editor.
Actually, .xprofile would be a better choice for what you want to do. .xinitrc is supposed to open programs AND start the window manager. If you use .xinitrc, you would have to include the line

exec blackbox

at the end.
