I have Linux binary that I would like to run on MacOSX. Is there a way to do this? I don't have the source, all I have is the binary that was compiled on Mandriva. I was hoping maybe there was something like Wine, but instead of running Windows software on Linux, I would be running Linux software on Mac.

Rep:
what is the name of the program? we can't help much without knowing that. That being said binaries only work properly within the specific environment in which they were compiled, therefore it is highly unlikely that you will get any sort of binary compatibility between any flavor of Linux and mac OS X (it's difficult enough to create binaries compatible between flavors of linux let alown between an environment running a Linux kernel and one running a BSD kernel) , that being said if we knew the name of said program maybe we could point you in the direction of ether a mac OS X binary or the source code.
Well, it's actually a program I am writing with Gambas (http://gambas.sourceforge.net/en/main.html). But I would love for the program to run on my Mac. I was kind of hoping there was some kind of Linux compatibility lair that could be installed on my Mac, sort of like wine.
Every binary executable program is stored in a format that is specific to the type of operating system being used (e.g. Linux, Windows, OS/X, Z/OS, CP/M ...) and to the surrounding environment (of libraries and so on) that it expects. Therefore, not only can it not run on different types of systems, it may or may not run on different instances of the same type of system.
OK, I will try and build the Mac port. That seems like the most logical solution. Thanks for your help.
Also, I know that a binary compiled on a system will not run on another system, as I stated, I was hoping there was something like Wine, but to run Linux binaries instead of Windows.
