run command at boot/login?

Hi I am trying to run a command when Linux starts and I jsut can't seem to do it. Specifically, I am trying to run imwheel (which I KNOW works if I manually run it). I have added the command into rc.local and xinit (or whatever it is called) and neither worked. I made a script in ~/.kde/Autostart and that didn't work either. Any advice? thanks in advance...

Running Redhat 9.0

"Any advice?"

On SuSE 7.2 I put the command:
imwheel
just ahead of the command to start the windowmanager in /root/.xinitrc and /home/user/.xinitrc and it worked OK.
