rsync ignores exclude-list

Making an incremental back up of my "home" to an external hard disk, the --exclude-part is ignored by rsync and I have no idea why.
The content of the file is:
Anki/
.thunderbird/
The command I use:
Code:
sudo rsync -r -t -v --exclude-from 'exclude_Home2Disk_rsync.txt' --progress --delete -s /home/ludo/ /media/ludo/08C8CAC6C8CAB16C/back_ups/TranquilMint/
For comparison, I succesfully use the following command to back up the back up-disk to a 2nd one for safety, and there the --exclude (different file) does do its job:
Code:
sudo rsync -r -t -v --exclude-from 'exclude_list_rsync.txt' --progress --delete -s /media/ludo/08C8CAC6C8CAB16C/ /media/ludo/0BEFA37038AA8514/

I find that I am mixing up two things here, sorry.
The Anki folder (to be excluded) was on the back up disk from an earlier back up without --exclude option.
It didn't get deleted later despite the --exclude option combined with --delete.
I'm now thinking there's something wrong with my logic there :-/
I manually deleted Anki/ so the data is as wanted, but I' still confused about --delete and --exclude combined.
I'll consider this as solved anyway - sorry again for the confusion.

You probably just need the "--delete-excluded" option ("also delete excluded files from dest dirs").

I didn't know about this option.
I looked it up and tried it out and find it super, so thank you for mentioning it!
