Dependencies means that the software you're installing needs something else to work, so you'll have to download that too.

I'm confused - if you dont have a net connection, how did you d/l anything to the pendrive? Or is your net not working in Linux?

If it is, try yum, these days (fedora 11) it was nice enough to volunteer to get everything else that the software I was d/l'ing needed.

As long as you do not tell the full name of the 'movie player',
you intend to install, it's difficult to help.
Package name, please.

Not very easy to provide links to unknown dependencies for an
unknown player.

Some players have 20..50 dependencies, and are
rather difficult to install manually, with an
rpm package.

If you upgraded your Redhat EL 5.3 to some of the latest EL 5.4
packages, the dependencies may differ. Hence the two lists, etc.
( You may also need another totem = totem.i386 2.16.7-4.el5 ?
instead of the one you already downloaded.)

Totem : # yum deplist totem.
The dependency lists for 5.3 and 5.4 are attached.
Seems that inter dependencies are listed too.

Links for 5.3
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.3/os/
Links for 5.3 i386
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.3/os/i386/CentOS/
i386 updates
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.3/updates/i386/RPMS/
.....
Links for 5.4
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.4/os/
i386
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.4/os/i386/CentOS/
i386 updates
http://mirror.centos.org/centos/5.4/updates/i386/RPMS/
.....

First thing to do : Please check against the list, what you already
have installed :
rpm -qa <package>
... Then download, what you think is required.
Save the files to usb - key.

Copy the files to a new empty directory on the EL 5.3 computer :
/home/<username>/'new'/
cd new/
su
rpm -Uvh *
.. and 'rpm' will install the dependencies first, then totem.
.....
.....
No guaranty, it works. The only proper way to install without problems,
is to have EL 5.3 connected to the internet, and use some repo's.
.. Or install the free copy of Redhat EL5 = CentOS(Redhat) 5.4 .
