rpm: cannot execute binary file

Recomplied my kernel fom 2.2.19 to 2.4.16 after doing that i tried to unistall some packages that I didnīt need with rpm and the following message appeared rpm:cannot execute binary file.

Well is there anyway around this without me having to reinstall everything.

what is the exact command you are typing?

The error usually means a corrupted database file.

have you tried rpm --rebuilddb
