Unhappy RPM 4.0.2 on RH 6.1 breaks Gnorpm & Kpackage

I have been trying to get RPM 4.0.2 working on my RedHat 6.1 install. I have upgraded to 4.0.2 using db3-3.1.17-4.6x.i386.rpm and rpm-4.0.2-6x.i386.rpm. RPM runs fine from a commmand line, but now the new RPM libs seem to have broken both Gnorpm and Kpackage. The errors they give are as follows;

[root@aladdin /]# kpackage
kpackage: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/librpmbuild.so.0: undefined symbol: rpmGlobalMacroContext

and

[root@aladdin /]# gnorpm
gnorpm: error in loading shared libraries: /usr/lib/librpm.so.0: undefined symbol: fdio

I have tried to upgrade Kpackage (kpackage-1.3.10-3.i386.rpm) and Gnorpm (gnorpm-0.96-59.i386.rpm), but still no joy. Have I broken them for good or can these missing symbols be restored somehow. I would really like to start using Kpackage and/or Gnorpm again.

Thanks for your time

David.
