Router & Firewall Distro? Need Suggestion :)

I have an old Pentium MMX 200 that i have decided to make into a router using Linux, the hardware i need the distro to support are as follows Conexant Access Runner ADSL Modem (PCI & USB i have both here available) Linksys 10/100 Network Card or 3com 10/100 etherlink PCI well thats it really, any suggestions advice will be greatly appreciaTED oh sorry i need to be able to do the following with it too i have a home network mainly windows 1 other Linux box so all need to be able to connect to the internet through this Router Box, also im a newbie with linux so a user friendly GUI would be nice and i must be able to access it remotely as i have no moniter to dedicate to it, Sly |
I use ClarkConnect for just such purposes. Once installed, you can run it headless, and connect either with SSH or through a web-browser.

IPCOP. basicaly you boot with the CD in the drive, wait, reboot the system without the CD and you are set for a basic firewall/NAT router ready to go. for advanced configuration its all there too. enjoy. |
trying to download keeps asking for a user name and password, i registerd but that dont sem to help, is this Open Source and free? or you gotta pay?

it downloads fine, they musta been maintaning the site last night or something, does clarkconnect use LILO or Syslinux / isolinux cuase this system cant boot Isolinux disks ive been unable to install IPCOP 1.4 becuase of this (the only Dist That Supports My ADSL Modem)

It's a standard bootable CD image.
There is a boot floppy available on the same page. You can use it to install from the internet. It might also support installing from CD, I don't remember. |
I use smoothwall, tho I don't know if it supports the modem or not. It also allows ssh and web interface...
