Not a Flux expert, but you can right click on the titlebar of a window and select "remember" --> "dimensions" and "position". The bad part about this is child windows on some apps (Mozilla) are also that size, even though they were not intended to be: the settings window, for example. As for gkrellm, there are several slit options in the fluxbox --> configure portions of the menu, have you tried those yet? Also, there are options for "maximize over" on both the slit and the toolbar, are those checked? If so, uncheck them.

Thanks Sargek

i overlooked the "Full Maximzation" ...rtfm maybe?

If the wm can tell X to leave out the bottom part of the screen so that the toolbar stays visible it should be possible to do that for any edge of the screen - this is actually what im trying...
Any Idea?

I understand - not sure if flux will do this, except for the "remember size and position" settings, which is kind of annoying. Xfce4 has a "border" you can set around the root window, where nothing will maximize to. As I am typing this, I notice the Firefox window is overlapping the bar...
