Hi I am a complete newbie I have installed ubuntu 10.04 I have sorted problem with Mobile broadband, but having problems opening root folder I get a permission denied not the owner I have admin privalage as far as I am aware I was following something I read using terminal but kept getting a message saying something about the root I opened the file manager found root folder but still denied access can anybody explain hoe I get access same is also true for lost&found folder but have to admit i dont know what that folder is.I would appreciate any help I can get Thank you

Can you please tell us what you did, and the error messages you received.
To enter the root folder, you have to be root. You can do this from a terminal by logging in to the terminal as root, then changing to the root directory. Or, you can do it by opening the file manager as root from a terminal. Something like:

sudo nautilus
Just be very careful in there. You can do fatal damage as root!
The root folder is actually only root's /home folder. Its not very interesting anyway.
But there really is not much reason to do so on an everyday basis. Please be specific about what you are trying to accomplish and the steps you've tried so far so we can assist.
