rm #index.php#


I have a file in my directory #index.php#. Why I cannot delete this file as follows rm #file.php#?

But \#index.php" I can delete. Any ideas why ?

For some special characters, you have to escape them by using the backslash character. That why it works to use:

rm \#file

but not:

rm #file

Any ideas how I get the file #index.php#. I created index.php file but not #index.php#

My guess is that whatever text editor you used to create index.php is saving a backup copy with the # on each end.
