Rhythmbox only imports 611 files

Hi there!

Some days ago I asked for help with tracking down a problem that I have with rhythmbox 3.2.1 - it only finds 611 of >1000 sound files. See https://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/linux-general-1/rhythmbox-doesn't-find-all-files-4175643952/

The problem still is there. Short:

- running rhythmbox in xterm didn't help
- m3u-playlists as workaround don't help. Only lists that contain ogg files are imported.

Do you have any idea where to look for more information?

TIA

Gregor

why do you think the answer will be different this time.

have you ever compared the actual files to rhythmboxes database as i suggested?

have you checked how rhythmbox deals with audio codecs - my guess is via gstreamer - are all gstreamer plugins installed?

I'm hoping that someone might come up with a new idea.

Well, I have not yet found any other distinction than stated. Only recently added files are imported - the only exception are ogg files. Is there a special thing I should check?

How do I check if all necessary plugins are installed? I switched my computer's OS from Debian to Slackware recently, so there shouldn't be major differencies to the current Slackware 14.2

Regards,

Gregor
