i have installed RHEL 4.0 but now i want to install update 2 - i've now being given 4 cd's of RHELr2 4.0 - can i be able to install only the Update 2 - without having to re-install the whole o/s?
Not sure what you mean by "update 2". Is it possible you mean "up2date"? "up2date" is RedHat's way of upgrading packages. Just run up2date from the command line and it will open a window to allow you to update your packages from RedHat's site. Note that you need an entitlement from RedHat to use this. You should have gotten one when you purchases your RH AS EL package.
by Update 2 - i meant something like Fix Pack 2 [for xp] - but i just realised that the new cd's i have is Red Hat already bundled with Update 2. - so i have successfully installed.
