RH9 upgrade

How complete a job does the red hat upgrade do? Will it update my lib files? I know it will update all my RPM's, but will it also update all the files that were initially placed by the red hat 8 installer?

Is it possible to dual boot RH8 and RH9? Im considering attaching my current RH9 file system to /rh8 or something if i INSTALL RH9, this would allow me to transfer all my data files over and keep all my config files (and allow me to boot back to RH8 if I have problems). Of course this would be temporary, and I would probably delete most of the RH8 filesystem after i get 9 working.

Sorry if i rambled

Thanks,
Greg

I upgraded from 8 to 9(to get the new kernel) and everything went fine. You con't lose and configuration setttings. Its like you said. It simply upgrades the rpms.

I don't see why you couldn't dual boot 8 and 9.

yes you can dual boot .....while installing (during partition part of the install) choose leave all linux partitions and it will automatically put rh8 into the grub bootloader for you.

But just to let you know redhat 9 is much slower than 8.
and they didnt include alot of support for multimedia and graphics.
