RH 6.2 System Freeze - Help!

Hi all,

I seem to have managed to freeze up my RH6.2
machine pretty nicely.
I was running a model requiring
a large chunk on memory. I ran another
job and my machine froze up.

This machine has no monitor
attached (only the network) so
I attached a monitor
to try to login from the virtual console
but I can't even do that.

A message prints to the screen every few minutes saying
"VM:: do_try_to_free_pages failed for ncl"
or ". . . for kupdate" so it seems
to be a memory related.

Anyway, I know it is bad to just
turn off linux machines, but I can't
see any other option. Suggestions?

Thanks,

jfd118

don't listen to me, but when my systems stopped responding, i've turned them off, and upon bootup, linux fixed my disk errors, so all worked well.

have you tried ctrl-alt-del to see if it would just reboot the machine. I don't advise on just turning off... especially a linux box.. windows is another story.
