RH 6.2 System Freeze - Help!
Hi all,
I seem to have managed to freeze up my RH6.2 machine pretty nicely. I was running a model requiring a large chunk on memory. I ran another job and my machine froze up. This machine has no monitor attached (only the network) so I attached a monitor to try to login from the virtual console but I can't even do that. A message prints to the screen every few minutes saying "VM:: do_try_to_free_pages failed for ncl" or ". . . for kupdate" so it seems to be a memory related. Anyway, I know it is bad to just turn off linux machines, but I can't see any other option. Suggestions? Thanks, jfd118 |
don't listen to me, but when my systems stopped responding, i've turned them off, and upon bootup, linux fixed my disk errors, so all worked well.

have you tried ctrl-alt-del to see if it would just reboot the machine. I don't advise on just turning off... especially a linux box.. windows is another story.
