Restoring partitions with clonezilla
I have used clonezilla to image HDD with Win XP and Ubuntu 12.04. When I restore, do I restore the XP partition first or last?

It should put them all back where it got them from; that's the whole point of a 'clone'.

If the order is somehow changed then your loader may have to be adjusted I'd think.

I agree with the posters above. If you've used Clonezilla to properly create an image of your hard drive, restoring the same image should automatically handle all partitions and their placement.

I finally got an image of the win side and an image of the Ubuntu side. Clonezilla then said target drive was not partitioned. Use Gparted to make first partition 78 GB ntsf and remaining space on drive as ext4. Clonezilla says partition images okay. When I tried to restore them, I got some sort of buffer overflow error and a bunch of output that may be useful only to those who wrote Clonezilla.

Trying again.
