Resizing partitions..can it be done?

Hi All

Is it possible to resize partitions without killing them?

For some unknown god forsaken reason when I installed linux I only gave it 3.5gig..now that I want to use it more and more for games I'm running out of disk space..I've got a fat32 partition that has lots of space..I don't really wanna symlink all the game files (ie wolf, quake3 etc) cause fat32 appears slower than etx2..So I was wondering if its possible to resize the partitions without having to lose them? and without using third party software as such (i hate partition magic..bad experiences..and I doubt it'l resize a linux partition)..

sooo..
can it be done?

Any help..much appreciated..

Have a look at GNU parted it should be able to do what you want.

You can give gnu parted a try ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/parted/

Partition Magic can resize Linux partitions (ext2) just fine, I have used it many a times with excellent results (I've been needing to use Partition Magic until parted became more stable and sable)

nice..

I stand corrected..
I'l check out parted after work tonight (who the hell should work on a sunday?)..

There was something I forgot to mention about my install which kinda hinders partition magic..
I went along and stuck the partition on the end of my drive..
So its looks like this..

Winxp 4gig
Games 20gig (why o why did I do this)
swap 500meg
linux 3.5gig

The reason I put the linux at the end was cause winxp packed a sad about not being the one and only love in my life and I foolishly listened to it at the time..

I was given the option to copy the parition in place of the other one but it doesn't feel very safe..by that I mean create space then copy the parition to a different part of the drive (unsure if it changes the partition layout)

Do I have any options for this sort thing or did I just not do right the first time?
