SuSE Setup automatically assumes you want to dual boot if you have any Windows partitions on your hard drive. It will even shrink the existing partitions nicely to make room.

Why not run through another install of SuSE just for practice? But this time, configure the default partitioning to delete the existing partitions.

why not fdisk and delete the partitions, then use each for what they may be needed for, by using symbolic links? like maybe when you add a package, you can perhaps find the destination for the program and make a symbolic link. for instance say you add apache. and you want it in /usr/local/apache you could set a symbolic link from /usr/local/apache to the /dev/hda1 using the mount point of the /dev/hda1 of course and then when you install stuff it will follow the link the empty drive, or perhaps move your mail or whatever to that drive and create a symbolic link from where the mail was to where it will be in hda1. i may be way off base. sorry if that is the case.
