removing the sound card driver

Hi,
I have a audio card which has taken a default driver and as i donn't have "sndconfig" installed in my machine, i cann't reinstall it and if i try the soundcard detection from the xwindow, it says sound card not detected.

i get this message "/dev/dsp" so pointing the sound server to "/dev/null" how do i make my soundcard to work again.

I want to reinstall my sound card - how do i do that?

Thx and Regards
Sandy
