Remount as r/w in Knoppix?

I've gotta say, I am extremely impressed with the Knoppix 3.4 5-17 release, it does a lot of things I've always wanted from a live distro (though I was told it used the 2.6 kernel, but it instead booted the 2.4.26 kernel) and this is the first Knoppix release that has "seen" my USB hard drive and automounted it for me. I just have one question. I would like to be able to use my Knoppix disk in conjunction with my 20 GB portable USB hard drive as a fail safe for backup in case of computer failure, but by default Knoppix is mounting the drive as read only (as it usually does for drives), but of course I want to be able to write to it for back up. Is there a command I can issue to remount the drive as read/write? preferably accessible for non-root users so that its easier to manipulate through the GUI? Thanks!
