Remotely find the kernel version

I have looked high and low and haven't found how to do this. Is there any way that you can remotely find the kernel version of linux box? For example, I have a network of servers here at home and I go out of town. I would like to get the kernel version outside the network (of course), how could I do this? I am designing my own administrative app to configure my boxes remotely and would like this information to be displayed. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Will you use ssh or something like that to connect to the server(s)? You can use the uname -a command to get kernel version and then some. Don't know if that will help you or not.

ssh seems to work well enough. Feel safer using that then telnet! And thanks... uname was just what I was looking for!

If you want to automate that you can look into ssh's
password-less authentication... ;)
