Related to Berkeley DB installation in Linux

Hi,
I am doing a project which needs use of a inbuilt Database. I opted for Berkeley DB due to its fast search Engine. My system is upgraded with Fedora core . I downloaded DB 4.4.20 version .and installed it according to the help manual.
Now what is happening is :
1> my prog. on inclusion of db.h is not giving any error and is getting compiled properly.
2>It is also compiling properly on creating a variable of DB type.
But when i am trying to call an API(db_create(...)) its giving error undefined reference to db_create.
I saw the /usr/include/db.h file.... db_create is defined there.
Now i am unable to proceed further due to this....
KIndly help me out.
Regards Sumit(talk2mitsu@gmail.com)
