reiserfs mounting slowly

Hey,

I have a rather large home partition (~200GB) formatted as reiserfs. However, it takes approximately 10 seconds to mount at bootup which feels like a considerable slow down. For this reason I've been thinking about changing to xfs. My questions are: 1) is it a good idea to use xfs on a home partition containing both small and large files (from .cfg file-sizes to DVD-images of 8GB). 2) Is there a work around with a reiserdisk to make it mount faster?

Thanks a lot.

I thought it was just my computer being stupid. It takes 7 seconds for a 160GB drive here.

Seems like it's just the two of us with this problem... I'm gonna try to run XFS on an external HDD on 120gb I have. I just formatted the disk (so there's no data on it) but it mounts instantaneously, which is a good sign. I'll post back when it's in use.

It's funny that found this thread. Because I experience smt I'va neve experienced before. HD refuses to save large files. I mean I try to download dvd.iso with filesize 3GB and for some reason wget cuts download on 2GB always.
Ideas?

Unfortunately, I know too little to be able to help you out, I can just say that I've been using XFS for a while now, and am very happy with it. And it is apparently designed to work well with large files, so maybe you should try that...
