hi everybody, its my first time in this forum and also i dont know so much about linux and GNU but i saw this label "Linux is a Registered Trademark of Linus Torvalds. All trademarks are property of their respective owners.
" senteces in kernel.org and wanna know what does it mean ? and also wanna know what would happen if linus decided to close linux codes. or sth like it, is that posiable for linus todvards to close codes or have rights to close codes or say something like "it is my kernel and i dont want u to use it free anymore" or blah blah blah.... could u please tell sth about it .

it means he owns the trademark "Linux", no one else can call their stuff "Linux", nothing wroing with that. if he "closed" the sorce? that's not going to happen, and if something like that was even possible,the prevoiuus open version would be forked and life would continue

That's been discussed forever... before. I see no value in opening another thread and suggest that it should be closed forthwith.
"Linux(R)" is a registered trademark because it needs to be. And Linus is taking the proper steps required by U.S. law to protect what the word "Linux" means... steps which, if they were not taken, would leave the term open to endless forms of abuse. Again, all of these issues have been discussed -- and carefully explained by Linus himself.

Read the GNU General Public Licence, its all there.
