hello, i am new to regex and inhertited some regex from someone.

Can you all help me identify what the below statement means:

(?=^[^\s])

(?= denotes what is called a "positive lookahead"

I'd just like to add that each tool that uses regexes may have a slightly different engine, so its best to state what language/tool this is.
