Reg Too Many Open Files in System Error
Hi,
I am having two instances of Oracle Application (Verion 11.5.9) installed on Red Hat Linux Advanced Server 2.1. If I run one instance it is running fine. But soon I start the second instance after some time I am getting an error message as "Too Many Open Files". Upon encountering this error, even "ls" command is not working. If I type ls on command prompt, it again throws me the error as Too Many Open files. I tried changing limits in limit.conf file. But it didnt help. Please let me know how I can overcome this problem. I am using Oracle Account for login and running all oracle related services which is tied with DBA group. Appreciate your early help. Thanks & Regards, Manick. manick.k@tapsl.com |
Did you also make the appropriate ulimit changes?

Hi,
I made changes in /etc/security/limits.conf file. Then rebooted the server. Then checked the open file limit by typing ulimit. Ulimit shows the changed value for nofiles parameter. But even after this I got the same error when I started two instances. Is there any way I can check what are the open files and which process is acquiring those open file. Thanks. |
