I would like the change/edit the splash screen at the kernel selection menu.. when the server boots up. The file /boot/grub/grub.conf contains the command that points to which image file to uses. By default, it's splash.xpm.gz.
It seem to me that Linux only accepts .xpm files (or .gnp) 'cause I try using .gif or .jpg and that didn't work. My question is how do I convert a .gif or .jpg to a .xpm file? And what are some good programs to edit .xpm files? Is pixmap the best one out there? And where can I download it?
