Redhat no GUI Boot

How can I set redhat to not load the GUI as standard?

change your default runlevel from 5 to 3. in RedHat (seems like you use rh9) I think the file we're looking for is /etc/inittab - open it with a text-editor and search for a line:


and change that to:


(so just replace 5 with 3). that ought to change the default runlevel to 3 so when you boot, you'll get into a text login and not the graphical the file (you need to be root I think) and reboot and you should see if it works

EDIT: I don't use RH anymore so I don't remember, but if you have some graphical administration app that gives you the choise to set default runlevel, you can use it instead..I just prefer editing those text-based config files, since it's a lot faster and at least I know what I change so go for /etc/inittab
