redhat asm files

Finding it surprisingly difficult to find instructions of making and executing asm files on redhat. I've been using pep7 virtual processor environment for a while now and decided it was time to actually write some assembly files away from pep7. Just looking for links and pointing in a general direction.

Many thanks.
