Redhat 9 problems

I am running Linux Redhat 9 and I have two problem

1) Where do I go to turn off sleep mode for the monitor. Once the machine goes to sleep, clicking the mouse or any keyboard will not cause it to wake up ?

2) When the machine goes to sleep and won 't wake up, I have to reboot RedHat 9. When reboot, it said files are corrupted because of improper shutdown. I run fsck -a and fsck -p but it does not fix the problem.

The KDE Control Center can configure "Power Control"

Does fsck give you an error message when it "doesn't work"?

The KDE Control Center can configure "Power Control"

I cannot find this. Please give me explicit instruction sucg as
start --> System Configuration -->

If your running KDE ("switchdesk kde") then its like this:

start->Control Center

Then expand the "Power Control" node
Click on "Laptop Battery"
Click on "Power Control" tab

Note: /usr/bin/apm has to be SUID root for this to work
You can do that by opening a terminal and doing this:

su
chmod u+s /usr/bin/apm
exit
kcontrol
