Redhat 8 or 9 clean install SB live never works

Why does Redhat 9 clean install sound never works? If I have a different sound card would I get the same problem? Why Why can't get the sound to work on a clean install. Only way it works if I install redhat 7.2 it does work :-(

try using the sndconfig utility. it still with RHL 9 (in CD #3).

Also, check ur plug n play options in your BIOS.
