Redhat 7.2: Kernel Compiling

I just recently installed Red hat 7.2 using ext3 and grub multiloader on a box using the ISO images from a mirrored site on Red hat's list. The kernel is 2.4.7-10.

I am trying to compile my kernel, but the /usr/src/linux directory is missing. I have a /usr/src/red hat/RPMS, ../BUILD, ../SOURCES, ../SPECS, and ../SRPMS

But none of these directories have the Makefile in them... What's the deal? granted I did just go to a new version of redhat and totally changed to a new file
system "ext3" and a new boot loader. But after going to the manual for 7.2 I have not seen anything about compiling the kernel being different then being in the
/usr/src/linux-something area.

The Grub bootloader does have the kernel pointing to /boot, but that doesn't help.

Anyone with any info... Please respond or email me at wmoun$ey@yahoo.com (replace $ with s)

The directory you want to be in is /usr/src/linux-2.4.7-10

Once you are in that directory do a 'make menuconfig'. This will start the configuration process for you.

The only directory under /usr/src is /usr/src/redhat...

There is no linux-2.4.7-10.... Now you see my confusion...
