Red Hat Up2date d/l bad packages?

I normally use apt-get to get my package updates, but recently wanted to get the kernel updates from RH. Up2date downloads the update but then claims the key is bad and the package is corrupt? Anyone else having this problem? All I want is to get a working kernel over 2.4.19 as that was when ACPI support was introduced. Linux will not be of much use to me on this laptop without the ability to measure the battery. I really want this to work. Does anyone have an HP laptop that they had to do something to to get APM working??:newbie:

Redhat has not released a 2.4.19 kernel yet they are still revising 2.4.18 they are on the 27th revision kernel-2.4.18-27-8.0.rpm Also I would recommend using a app called Grab for updateing and automatic updateing it is very very kool. It works alot like apt, but you can use regular ftp mirrors.

Actually I ended up installing RH 8.1 beta as it uses the 2.4.20 kernel w/ ACPI support. I am trying to get apt-working again but I seem to be missing some depends.

Suprise!
Redhat 9 (really 8.1 - they had to rename it to boost sales, I guess) has been released. You can download it from their ftp in soon.

I ran into the same problem when I tried to download the new kernel a while ago. It seems that when RHN has high traffic the packages can tend to become corrupt for reasons that are beyond me. Persistence on this issue will pay off.

This has happen to me. I just cancel and retry it. It always works on the 2nd or 3rd try. Bad connection - interference?
